Position Summary

Contributes hands-on engineering design across design-build and design-assist projects spanning healthcare, education, mission-critical, commercial, and similar markets. Works closely with modeling/BIM coordinators, estimators, and trade partners to develop designs that are practical, efficient, and cost-effective, with exposure to DSI's VDC and CFD modeling resources and regular feedback from the field.

Key Responsibilities

Perform intermediate-to-complex engineering calculations, including heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, and friction loss calculations

Prepare preliminary redline design layouts to support estimating

Own a single phase or defined scope of a project's engineering design

Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced engineers

Ensure code compliance across assigned design work

Review applicable codes and criteria and examine field conditions as needed to support project design



Required Qualifications

Four-year degree in Engineering or related field

3-4 years of relevant design engineering experience

In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and general understanding of system operations

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing plans

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong computer skills, including CAD/BIM tools and Microsoft Office (including Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

PE license or active EIT progress toward licensure

Design-build or design-assist project experience

Exposure to VDC/BIM coordination or CFD modeling workflows
