Schedule: Monday - Friday
Office Hours: 8:00 - 5:00

We are seeking a Benefits Specialist with hands-on experience administering employee benefit programs who can be based at either our Harrisburg, PA, or Venice, FL office. This is an onsite position.

What You'll Do

We're seeking a Benefits Specialist with hands-on experience administering employee benefit programs, including health and welfare plans, 401(k) administration, compliance, audits, vendor management, and employee support.

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, compliance, communication, and continuous improvement of MITER Brands' employee benefit programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert for benefits administration, supporting benefit enrollments, plan compliance, vendor partnerships, retirement programs, audits, reconciliations, and employee inquiries.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing employee benefit programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, analyzing benefits data, resolving complex employee inquiries, and delivering an exceptional team member experience. This position is best suited for an experienced benefits professional with dedicated benefits administration expertise.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine and complex audits within the Human Capital Management (HCM) system to ensure accurate benefit enrollment and eligibility determinations and provide eligibility information to third-party administrators (TPAs).

Identify and perform non-routine audits through independent analysis of facts and circumstances, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision.

Ensure systems are properly configured, tested, and validated to support a seamless open enrollment process.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by reviewing and interpreting filing requirements and obligations, including Form 5500 filings, required notices, dependent verification, and beneficiary determinations.

Research and analyze benefit trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies related to benefits administration and compliance.

Partner with benefit vendors to evaluate current programs, benchmark industry best practices, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Conduct cost-benefit analyses and recommend benefit and compliance solutions that align with organizational objectives.

Develop and distribute team member communications regarding benefit programs, enrollment processes, plan changes, rate updates, and educational resources.

Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources teams to support reporting needs, resolve issues, and provide data analysis.

Investigate and resolve routine and complex benefit inquiries related to 401(k) plans, health and welfare plans, enrollment, eligibility, life events, contribution amounts, and plan changes.

Interpret plan provisions, conduct fact-finding, and provide recommendations regarding employee benefit concerns with minimal supervision.

Administer the company's 401(k) plan, ensuring timely payroll funding and accurate processing.

Manage the preparation, processing, reconciliation, and timely payment of monthly benefit invoices and insurance premiums.

Administer tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs.

Respond to team member inquiries regarding benefits administration, policies, and procedures in a timely and professional manner.

Assist the Benefits Manager with reporting requirements, compliance activities, and special projects.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate degree and 3+ years of direct benefits administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience administering employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.

Strong knowledge of employee benefits administration, enrollments, eligibility, life events, and compliance requirements.

Experience conducting audits, reconciliations, and data analysis with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Customer-focused mindset with a professional approach to employee support.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Workday HRIS configuration, reporting, benefits administration, or module support.

Experience administering 401(k) plans and supporting health and welfare benefit programs.

Experience managing benefit vendor relationships and eligibility feeds.

Knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, Form 5500 filings, and other benefits-related compliance requirements.

Experience supporting open enrollment planning, testing, implementation, and employee education.

Experience supporting a multi-site or multi-state workforce.
