Job Type: Locum Tenens

Location: San Francisco, CA (Floating to Sister Facilities)

Service Setting: Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Coverage Type: Clinical Only

Coverage Period: 08/31/2026 Ongoing (26+ Weeks)

Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (8 to 10-hour shifts, 4 or 5 days/week, minimum 40 hours/week)

Full-Time Preferred

Minimum Availability: 2 Weeks per Month

Patient Demographics: Adolescents (13+), Adults, Geriatrics

Admissions: No

Rounding: Not Included

Phone Consults: No

Case Mix: General surgical anesthesia, occasional regional anesthesia, inpatient and outpatient procedures, no cardiac, liver, or neuro cases

Trauma Level: Tertiary Care Center (Trauma experience strongly preferred)

EMR System: Epic

Office Equipment Available: Standard OR Equipment

Specialty Backup Available: CRNAs and Surgical Teams

Support Staff Available: CRNAs

Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

Credentialing Timeline: 60 to 90 Days

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Rate: All-Inclusive Rate

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

General Anesthesia

Regional Anesthesia (Strongly Preferred)

Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical Anesthesia

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Licenses: Active California Medical License

Board: BC in Anesthesiology (Exceptional BE candidates may be considered if fellowship trained)

DEA: Active California DEA with Schedule II Authorization

Certifications: BLS (Required), ACLS (AHA Preferred)

Experience: Minimum 2 years of Anesthesiology experience, recent tertiary care experience, recent solo practice required

Other Qualifications: Epic experience required, ability to float between multiple facilities, high acuity (ASA 3+) experience preferred, trauma experience preferred, teaching hospital experience preferred

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide anesthesia services for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures

Independently manage anesthesia cases with occasional CRNA supervision

Float between multiple sister facilities as needed

Document patient care using Epic EMR

Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
