Position Summary
Aspen Earthworks is seeking a Civil Superintendent to lead field execution across site
development scopes including earthwork, underground utilities, roadway construction,
and site infrastructure.
This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for driving safe, efficient, and
predictable production across multiple crews and scopes.
The Civil Superintendent works closely with project managers, foremen, operators,
subcontractors, and inspectors and is accountable for turning plans into coordinated, onschedule field execution.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Production
• Lead day-to-day field operations across mass grading, excavation, underground
utilities, roadway construction, and site development scopes
• Manage multiple crews, foremen, and equipment to maintain production targets
• Drive sequencing and workflow across the site to avoid downtime and conflicts
• Ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials
Planning, Scheduling & Coordination
• Develop and execute daily work plans, 2-week lookaheads, and 6-week forecasts
• Coordinate with project management on manpower, equipment needs, and
schedule alignment
• Identify and remove constraints impacting production (access, utilities, materials,
inspections, etc.)
• Sequence work across multiple scopes and trades to maintain project momentum
Utilities & Technical Execution
• Oversee installation of wet and dry utilities including water, sewer, storm drain,
electrical, and communication systems
• Ensure proper trenching, bedding, pipe installation, compaction, and testing
• Coordinate layout, elevations, slopes, and tie-ins to existing systems
• Maintain compliance with plans, specifications, and local jurisdiction requirements
Quality Control
• Verify grades, elevations, compaction, and installation accuracy across all scopes
• Ensure proper documentation and inspection readiness for utilities and earthwork
• Coordinate with testing agencies and inspectors to pass inspections efficiently
• Minimize rework through proactive field oversight and communication
Safety Leadership
• Enforce Aspen's safety standards across all field operations
• Conduct JHAs, daily tailgates, and site safety coordination
• Identify and mitigate jobsite hazards proactively
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and project-specific safety requirements
Crew & Subcontractor Management
• Lead and manage field crews, operators, and subcontractors
• Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, and accountability
• Maintain strong communication between field teams and project management
• Hold all parties accountable to schedule and performance standards
Reporting & Communication
• Maintain accurate daily reports including production, quantities, delays, and issues
• Track installed quantities, equipment utilization, and workforce productivity
• Coordinate with GCs, owners, inspectors, and other trades to maintain alignment
• Escalate issues early and drive resolution
Project Closeout
• Support punch list completion, final inspections, and turnover documentation
• Assist with as-builts, utility documentation, and demobilization

Qualifications
• 7+ years of field leadership experience in civil construction (Foreman or
Superintendent level)
• Strong experience in site development, mass grading, and underground utilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple crews and large-scale earthwork operations
• Strong understanding of:
o Grading and site balancing
o Utility installation (wet and dry)
o Compaction, testing, and inspection requirements
o Equipment utilization and production planning
• Ability to read and execute from civil plans, profiles, and specifications
• Strong communication skills and decisive field leadership
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in Northern Nevada
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience on large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with GPS machine control and grading technology
• OSHA 30 (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience with field reporting and production tracking systems
• Experience with HCSS is a plus
Work Environment
• Active construction sites in varying weather conditions
• Requires walking jobsites, climbing, and physical movement throughout the day
• Early mornings, extended hours, and occasional weekends depending on project
demands
