Gastroenterology Physician

Job Title: Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist (MD/DO)
Location: Bloomington, Illinois

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Illinois. This role offers a balanced mix of outpatient clinic, endoscopy procedures, and inpatient consults, with flexibility in scheduling and workflow.

• Estimated Shifts: 15 shifts per month
• Minimum Availability: 5 consecutive shifts per month (more preferred)
• Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
• No weekend coverage required
• Limited call responsibilities

• Collaborative GI group (provider will not work solo)
• Mix of:
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Endoscopy suite
  • Inpatient consults and admissions
• EMR: EPIC

• Management of acute and chronic GI conditions
• New patient evaluations and follow-ups
• Endoscopic procedures
• Hospital consults and admissions

Typical Weekly Breakdown:

• 3 days clinic / 2 days endoscopy suite
• Up to 12 scopes per day (with anesthesia support)
• Clinic volume is flexible to allow time for inpatient consults

• Endoscopy procedures performed with:
  • Monitored anesthesia (Propofol) or
  • Moderate sedation (Versed & Fentanyl)
• ERCP/EUS not required

• Call required but minimal
• Call type: Telephone only
• Average admissions while on call: 0

• Seeking 1 2 additional locum providers
• Ongoing need with preference for providers able to support both outpatient and inpatient services

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Active Illinois Medical License (required)
• Illinois DEA & CSR required
• Certifications: ACLS & BLS
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• IMLC candidates will NOT be considered

• No weekend coverage
• Flexible clinic volume and workflow
• Balanced mix of outpatient and inpatient care
• Supportive, team-based environment
• Predictable schedule with strong procedural volume
