Position Overview:Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and Southern Vermont Health Services Corporation are seeking a dedicated, full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA-C) to become an integral part of our expanding Orthopedic team. Located in the scenic town of Brattleboro, Vermont, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal and orthopedic care in both clinical and surgical environments alongside experienced orthopedic surgeons.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate effectively with orthopedic surgeons in diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, assessments, and histories to inform diagnosis and treatment.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans under direct physician supervision.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, including radiographs, MRIs, and other imaging modalities.
- Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring smooth operation flow and optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage pre-operative preparations and post-operative care, including follow-up visits and rehabilitation guidance.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, recovery processes, and post-care instructions.
- Perform office-based procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, and other minor orthopedic interventions.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant medical records within electronic health records systems.
- Participate in rotational on-call coverage to support hospital coverage needs.
- Adhere strictly to hospital policies, OSHA standards, universal precautions, and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing, rehabilitation, and ancillary staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental goals and ongoing professional development.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervising physicians and hospital leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements: - Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) licensed to practice in Vermont.
- Board Certified in Physician Assistant Studies.
- CPR certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year's experience in orthopedic or surgical settings; recent graduates with less than 1-year experience are not eligible.
- No visa sponsorships; not open to LOCUM or LOCUM-to-PERM candidates.
- Ability to work full-time without conflicting commitments.
