Job Description

Job Summary The Lab Associate II supports essential laboratory operations by performing high-volume, fast-paced tasks that ensure accurate and timely processing of samples. Responsibilities include receiving and checking in couriers, unbagging and barcoding specimens, transporting samples throughout the lab, loading them into analyzers, preparing them for testing, and retrieving stored samples as needed. This role requires comfort working with various biological specimens and maintaining strict adherence to laboratory safety and operational procedures. The position may include overnight work based on business needs. Key Responsibilities Receive and check in couriers and incoming samples. Unbag, bar code, and organize samples for processing. Transport ("run") samples throughout different areas of the lab. Load samples into analyzers and prepare them for testing. Place samples into centrifuges and operate related equipment. Mix ("swirl") samples with required chemical solutions. Retrieve samples from refrigerated storage areas. Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment. Follow established protocols, workflows, and laboratory procedures. Support high-volume production workflows with efficiency and accuracy. Adhere to all PPE and safety guidelines, including requirements for fully covered legs during onsite work. Required Qualifications Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume environments (e.g., laboratory, fulfillment, warehouse, production, food service, or similar). Willingness to work with and handle biological specimens including blood, urine, fecal material, and biopsies. Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and move continuously throughout the shift. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures consistently. Ability to adapt quickly to changing workloads and priorities. Willingness to work overnight schedules when required. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a clinical laboratory environment (e.g., high-volume labs such as LabCorp, Quest, or large hospital labs). Experience as a Processor, Accessioner, or Phlebotomist in high-volume clinical settings. Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant background, ideally combined with fulfillment/warehouse or fast-paced service experience. Recent Biology graduates with strong experience in high-volume, fast-paced roles outside academic research. Experience in roles requiring rapid task switching and constant movement (e.g., Amazon, FedEx, UPS, warehouse, production, food service). Education: High School
