Nurse Practitioner Cardiothoracic Surgery (Acute Care Hospital) Target Start Date: March 16, 2026 Contract Length: 6 month assignment (potential extension) Schedule Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours, no call Shift Structure & Expectations: Day or night shifts (6:00 a.m. 6:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. 6:30 a.m.) 3 12 hour shifts per week Minimum: 2 weekend shifts/month + 5 6 night shifts/month Full-time coverage supporting inpatient cardiothoracic services EMR: Epic Practice Details Setting: Inpatient hospital-based Operating Room, CTICU, and Acute Care Floor High-acuity environment with cardiothoracic postoperative patients Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics Post op CT surgery, heart transplant, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella, IABP) Support: Works collaboratively with CT surgeons, fellows, physicians, APPs, heart failure/transplant teams, and ICU staff High autonomy; first responder to CT surgery patient needs Clinical Responsibilities Include: Daily rounds with multidisciplinary teams Independent management of critically ill CT surgery patients Performing histories & physicals Ordering/interpreting diagnostic studies Perioperative planning & coordination Managing consults, admits, discharges, prescriptions, and referrals Removal of chest tubes, pacing wires, IABPs, and arterial sheaths Limited 1st assist time in OR (EVH-trained providers may participate) Providing patient/family education and arranging follow-up Requirements Role: Nurse Practitioner Cardiothoracic Surgery Experience: Minimum 1 year CT surgery experience required Must have ECMO experience Experience managing critically ill postoperative patients required EVH proficiency strongly preferred License: Active California license required (not willing to license for NPs) Board Certification: Required (Cardiothoracic Surgery specialty) Certifications: ACLS AHA BLS AHA DEA with appropriate schedules Credentialing Timeframe: days Location San Francisco, California acute care hospital cardiothoracic surgery service If you are interested or would like to be presented, please reach out to me for more details.
