Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes. Maintains a working relationship with parents and children. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Report unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or other person of responsibility if your immediate supervisor is not available. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures. Follow departmental dress code. No alterations to the dress code are allowed. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly. Develops positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance. Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs. Maintains records as required (i.e., attendance, progress reports, etc.). Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned. Builds relationships with members and building participants. Job Description Job Description The Mystic Valley YMCA Aquatics Department is hiring part time swim instructors for group swim classes. Salary Range: $16.00 To $18.00 Hourly About the Classes All group classes have a standard curriculum and run for 6 to 8-week sessions. Classes run Tuesday through Saturday. Parent with Child classes are for ages 6 months to 3 years and their parents/guardians. Instructors lead the adults in teaching the children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Preschool classes are for children between the ages of 3 and 6. There are 4 levels, each building upon the previous class ranging from Water Acclimation to Stroke Introduction. Youth classes are for children aged 6 to 17 years. There are 6 levels ranging from Water Acclimation to Stroke Mechanics. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide swim instructions based on the set curriculum. Enforce safety rules and regulations. Evaluates students' progress, take attendance, complete progress reports every session for each student Ensure every child connects with their guardian after class. Interact with parents/guardians and Aquatics Director on child's skills and progress. Set up and put away all materials used for each class. Reports accidents and incidents to management.
