Medical Center is now seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join our team in Conway, SC. This is a full-time inpatient pediatrician role, focusing on providing care to newborns and pediatric patients admitted to the hospital. The provider will manage a range of inpatient responsibilities, primarily related to newborn care with some pediatric admissions. The role is critical to maintaining comprehensive care for pediatric patients in a hospital setting. SCHEDULE: 8 hours in-house per day (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM) 24/7 coverage with 16 hours of on-call responsibilities Typical census: 8-15 newborns per day and 0-2 pediatric patients per day Call responsibilities include: Nurse phone consultations, potential admissions from the ED, and attending high-risk deliveries or stabilizing sick newborns (calls come from nurses and/or ER doctors NOT from parents) SUPPORT & RESOURCES: APRN support is provided Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, especially when census is highest. CRNA is available 24/7 for epidurals and urgent/emergent C-sections. The nursery, labor & delivery, postpartum unit, and pediatrics are located conveniently on the same floor. High-risk deliveries or newborns needing advanced care, such as mechanical ventilation or neonatal surgery, will be transferred to McLeod (Level 3 NICU) or MUSC (Level 4 NICU). McLeod is accessible by ground transport within 2 hours. MUSC is reachable via helicopter within 45 minutes. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Approximately 1,600 deliveries annually, expected to grow to 1,800-2,000 due to the expansion of the Women s Health department and transfers from Grand Strand Medical Center.
