The FAP Plant Manager will manage the daily operation of the Mapleton Fatty Acid Plant (FAP), Wastewater Treatment operations and Warehouse operations to produce products and intermediates that meet or exceed the internal and external customers' requirements. Insure the safe operation of the Mapleton FAP, Warehouse operations and Wastewater Treatment operations and meet or exceed all environmental policies and regulations as well as internal policies. Control manufacturing costs within budgets and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. Coordinate the operation of the FAP, Warehouse and Wastewater Treatment with other Mapleton functional groups, such as EHS&Q, Maintenance, Engineering, Capacity, Financial and Human Resources. As part of the site management team, contribute to the strategic operations of the site, including short and long term strategic planning for the FAP. Hazardous Waste Responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the Mapleton Fatty Acid Plant in a safe, environmentally conscience, cost effective manner so that customer requirements are met on a timely basis and the company assets are protected. Minimize unanticipated events and communicate FAP information to/with the appropriate Evonik Corporation management levels. Manage and administer corporate, Evonik and plant policies and procedures for the FAP. Indirectly supervise the hourly employees and administer the collective bargaining agreement. Supervise and develop the FAP process engineer/chemist, plant engineer and production supervisors.

Manage the Mapleton Warehouse Department to safely and efficiently produce powdered and drummed products that meet the customers' requirements on a timely basis.

Manage the Mapleton Wastewater Treatment Plant achieving all regulatory standards and minimizing the Greater Peoria Sanitary District (GPSD) charges and other costs.

Monitoring / Analysis - Monitor FAP, Warehouse and Wastewater Treatment operating data and monthly financial cost data. Analyze information to minimize variances and improve profitability. Optimize inventories to minimize net working capital requirements and inventory adjustments.

Continuous Improvement - Apply technical training and managerial skills to improve process chemistry and unit operations by cycle time reduction, yield improvement, raw material usage, energy conservation and manpower productivity. Develop ideas to improve productivity, efficiency or cost reduction. Promote the continuous improvement concept within the Fatty Acid Plant.

Active leadership position in the management of the Mapleton plant by participating as a member of the Mapleton plant senior management team.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science Degree, in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree and experience.
Minimum five years' experience in a chemical process plant environment with supervision and engineering responsibilities.
Skills with communicating/working with individuals with varied backgrounds
