Job Title: EMR Training Specialist Date Created: 1/22/2021
Statement of Purpose: This position is CAN Community Health's front-line contact with our internal customers, clinical staff and providers. This position is responsible for the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of EMR training program. Responsible for continuous education of all clinical staff and all employees who interact with CAN Community Health's electronic medical record.
Essential Duties: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
- Provides EMR training and support to new and established staff individually or via group training presentations.
- Schedule and coordinate training of EMR system as new clinics are on-boarded.
- Schedule and coordinate training of any software that interfaces or integrates with the EMR system.
- Completes random new hire user workflow audits within the EMR system during the first 60 days with feedback to the audited individual and their manager.
- Follows up with EMR users who do not receive passing scores from competency testing or other assigned HealthStream assignments
- Contributes to a library of training tools, recorded training videos and documents.
- Performs periodic quality/accuracy reviews of eCW workflow documentation to identify individual and/or department educational improvement opportunities
- Assists with MIPS/HEDIS quality audits and training
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Stays aware of eCW changes and maintains eCW competencies.
- Monitor EMR helpdesk ticketing system when assigned and resolve tickets as appropriate
- Promotes and practices CAN Community Health Inc's mission and values and adheres to its policies and procedures.
Secondary Duties: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
- Participates in continuous quality improvement of services rendered to CAN clients.
- Utilizes resources and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Demonstrates courtesy and respect in all interpersonal relationships with CAN patients, staff and visitors.
- Cross-train for effective team participation.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients/clients, family and employees in accordance with HIPAA, regulatory, professional and organizational standards.
- Serves as back-up to EMR Helpdesk as necessary.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
. Requirements:
Skills & Abilities: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
- eCW experience preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA rules, regulations, and mandates
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
- Knowledge of medical office workflows.
- Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
- Ability to exercise judgment to solve operational problems where the answer is not apparent.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow EMR team members clinical staff, patients, and the public.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Travel up to 75% to CAN Community Health clinics to conduct onsite training/observations
- Weekend or overnight travel may be required.
CAN Required Training: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
General Orientation HIPAA Sexual Harassment
Basic Annual Safety Training HIV/AIDS Health Stream Courses (as assigned)
Education/Professional: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
High School Degree required
Associates degree or Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 1-3 years of Healthcare trainer experience
Physical Demands: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
- Neat professional appearance.
- Exerts up to 10lbs of force occasionally and /or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for a brief period of time.
- Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, visual and auditory acuity
Machines/Equipment and Tools Used: Electronic Medical Records Training Specialist
Computers and various software programs.
Operate motor vehicle and maintain valid driver license.
