Our Client a leading investment management firm in the Twin Cities, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their firm. This position will be responsible for multiple functions at the firm including, all Finance, Financial Statement prep, Investor reporting, managing a small team and assisting with audit prep. The position will also be a key contact with the firms outside funding relationships. Our client is looking for a candidate with 5+ years' experience in the financial services industry, a degree in accounting and ideally a CPA. What you get to do every single day
- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
- Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
- Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Job Requirements:
- Prior work done in public accounting is desired
- Financial Services experience required
- Vow to meet business deadlines
- Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
- Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
- Month-end Financial experience highly desired
- Knowledge of Financial Statement
- Proficiency in GAAP Accounting
- Month-end Close Activities experience preferred
- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
- Great attention to detail
