About us
Asheville Fire Protection has served businesses, schools, hospitals, and restaurants in the greater Asheville area for more than 45 years. We inspect, service, recharge, and sell fire extinguishers and we inspect, service, and repair commercial kitchen hood fire suppression systems. We are looking for a reliable field technician who takes pride in keeping customers compliant and safe.
The role
You will work independently in the field, traveling to customer sites throughout Western NC. Most days you will inspect and service portable fire extinguishers and pre-engineered kitchen hood suppression systems, document the work, and represent the company with restaurant owners, managers, and local fire officials.
Responsibilities
• Inspect, test, service, recharge, and hydro-test portable fire extinguishers
• Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pre-engineered kitchen hood fire suppression systems
• Identify deficiencies, explain findings to the customer, and complete repairs or schedule follow-up work
• Complete accurate inspection reports, tags, and service documentation
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, parts inventory, and a professional appearance
• Work with service manager and the office on scheduling; occasional early starts or after-hours emergency calls as needed
• Coordinate with customers and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) when required
Required
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to work independently, manage a daily route, and communicate clearly with customers
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working on ladders, in commercial kitchens, and in tight spaces
• Ability to lift 50-70 lbs and work on your feet most of the day
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Working hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday (full time)
