We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial success of our construction projects from set up through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Operations, Payroll, and Accounting to maintain accurate job costs, prepare timely billings, support revenue recognition, and deliver clear project financial reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and maintain projects, budgets, cost codes, contracts, and change orders in the ERP system.
  • Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Prepare progress, time-and-material, and AIA-style customer billings in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Support monthly revenue recognition, work-in-progress reporting, forecasting, and project close activities.
  • Analyze project performance, cost-to-complete trends, profitability, cash flow, and financial variances.
  • Monitor receivables and collaborate with Project Managers and customers to resolve billing and collection issues.
  • Maintain contracts, lien waivers, certificates of insurance, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Provide accurate financial information and clear variance explanations during project review meetings.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in construction, engineering, specialty contracting, or another project-based industry.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, project billing, financial analysis, and month-end processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or a similar construction ERP system preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
