RiverCity Industries is seeking a dependable and motivated Flat Laser Helper/Material Handler to join our South Campus production team. This position supports our flat laser operators by locating and staging materials, loading and unloading sheets of metal, removing completed parts, and preparing the laser area for upcoming jobs.

Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, works well as part of a team, and wants to grow within the sheet metal fabrication industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist flat laser operators with daily production activities.
• Locate, identify, and stage the correct sheet metal materials for upcoming jobs.
• Help load sheets of material onto the flat laser equipment.
• Unload completed parts, remnants, and scrap material from the laser.
• Sort, organize, and move completed parts to the appropriate production area.
• Verify materials and parts using basic measurement tools.
• Maintain accurate material and part identification throughout the production process.
• Keep the laser work area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards.
• Assist with material handling using forklifts or overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
• Follow work instructions, job travelers, safety requirements, and quality procedures.
• Communicate material shortages, damaged materials, or production concerns to the laser operator or Department Lead.
• Perform other production-support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to learn flat laser and sheet metal fabrication processes.
• Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time.
• Basic knowledge of measurement tools, such as a tape measure.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely and cooperatively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform material-handling activities for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Previous experience working around flat laser equipment.
• Forklift experience.
• Overhead crane experience.
• Experience handling sheet metal or other large materials.
• Familiarity with basic shop safety and material-identification practices.

Previous forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus but is not required. Employees may only operate this equipment after receiving authorization and any required training.

Schedule:

The position will initially work:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The employee must be willing and available to transition to one of the following production schedules based on operational needs:

First Shift

• Sunday-Tuesday, 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Second Shift

• Wednesday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
• Thursday-Saturday, 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Applicants must be able to work the initial Monday-Friday schedule and transition to either production shift when assigned.
