Position Overview
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring production equipment that manufactures metal components and pieces. This role supports off shift production at a high volume, Operators ensure machines run efficiently, parts meet quality standards, and production goals are achieved.
SHIFT : Monday - Thursday with 4/10 hour shifts, OT if desired. 7PM - 5AM.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup - Prepare cold heading, threading, or forming machines for production; load wire/steel coil; adjust dies, tooling, and feeds.
- Production Operation - Run assigned equipment to produce fasteners according to specifications; maintain consistent cycle times and output.
- Quality Inspection - Perform visual and dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and go/no go tools; document results.
- Troubleshooting - Identify and correct minor mechanical issues, jams, misfeeds, or tooling wear; escalate major issues to maintenance.
- Safety Compliance - Follow all plant safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Documentation - Record production counts, scrap, downtime, and machine adjustments.
- Housekeeping - Maintain a clean, organized work area aligned with 5S and lean manufacturing standards.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing Experience preferred; machine operation in fastener, cold heading, or metal forming environments is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, production travelers, and basic mechanical diagrams.
- Comfortable using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
