CNC Machine Operator

About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable CNC Machine Operator to join an established precision manufacturing facility in Plainville, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machinery-such as mills, lathes, or machining centers-to produce high-quality components according to exact engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Load raw materials, secure workpieces, and operate CNC machinery to fabricate precision metal or plastic components.
- Blueprint & Spec Reading: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine exact dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
- Quality Inspection: Perform rigorous quality checks on finished parts using precision measuring instruments (including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and plug gauges) to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Tooling & Offsets: Monitor machine performance and tool wear during production runs; perform basic tool changes and make minor wear offsets as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct daily basic machine maintenance (checking fluid levels, clearing chips) and maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Documentation: Accurately log production output, scrap counts, and quality inspection data into the shop floor tracking system.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1-3+ years of hands-on experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Solid understanding of basic machining practices, feeds, and speeds.
- Ability to accurately use and read manual precision measuring tools.
- Familiarity with reading basic G-code and M-code is a plus.
- Mathematical & Analytical Skills: Strong practical math skills (decimals, fractions, and geometry) with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and safely lift up to 30-50 pounds.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a technical trade school program or machining certificate is highly preferred.
