Job Summary:
This role is focused on delivering dental care to patients while ensuring the efficient functioning of productive dental teams across various locations. Collaborating with the Chief Dental Officer, VP of Clinical Performance, and other management personnel, this position involves mentoring and coaching all dental practitioners, overseeing staff, managing client and patient relations, and serving as a role model for office teams.

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
  • Engage with patients to address dental issues, conduct routine cleanings and preventative treatments, and create plans for improved dental hygiene.
  • Assess patients by performing examinations to identify conditions, utilizing x-rays, dental tools, and other diagnostic methods.
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and deformities affecting teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
  • Carry out dental procedures, including extractions, root canals, and cavity fillings.
  • Provide education to patients regarding oral and dental hygiene practices.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor dental practitioners to help them achieve their performance potential, especially during the onboarding and ramp-up phases for new doctors. Responsible for engagement and retention of doctors, particularly those at risk due to performance issues or dissatisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to diagnostic and preventative guidelines set by the ADA and AAPD, including Caries Risk Assessment (CRA), appropriate radiograph usage (ALERA principle), and sealant application.
  • Collaborate closely with offices to ensure effective program management, comprehensive staff training, execution of SMART plans, and maintenance of customer service standards.
  • Support the achievement of financial goals for the office, including revenue targets and first-time billing approval rates.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and state dental board regulations, including CMS, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Follow up on compliance and office audits as part of the CPM Audit Process with the Chief Dental Officer.
Secondary Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Engage in community events, including dental school meetings, board member gatherings, dental associations, and other opportunities to represent the organization within the dental and local communities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience:
    • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
    • A minimum of three years of multi-unit management experience with P&L responsibility for at least five locations and five direct reports, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Possession of a current, valid dental license in the states where care is provided or eligibility for licensure.
    • Additional certifications as required, such as CPR and DEA.
    • Nitrous Oxide certification (only applicable in LA, MS, DC, TX, MA).
    • A compassionate nature and a strong commitment to providing dental care to both children and adults.
Physical Requirements:

The nature of this role necessitates the ability to:

  • Effectively communicate and share information with staff, supervisors, and other internal clients.
  • Operate a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment.

This position is based in a non-clinical office environment and may require extended hours during peak times. Work hours may be adjusted to meet business needs.
