The Operator operates the insulation machine to assemble the product (flexible duct) according to exact specifications. The operator performs equipment changeovers, verifies the use of correct materials and labels, completes first article inspection sheets, tracks scrap reporting, completes gap analysis sheets, and ensures the line runs efficiently. The operator is also responsible for following the established production schedule for their assigned line.

Position Responsibilities

  • Follow the production schedule provided by the crew chief.
  • Inspect the line to verify all raw materials (insulation, core, jacket, and UL labels) match the product specification sheets.
  • Accurately complete the duct line operator first article inspection, safety log, and GAP analysis sheets.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the mandrel, glass guide basket, and UL labels for product changeovers.
  • Adjust the label gun to ensure the date code corresponds to the current date.
  • Load the core tray with cores, position foil (silver) jackets onto the machine table or black jackers onto the reel holder, and load insulation into the insulation feeder machine.
  • Place the jackets on the mandrel and start the jacket winder.
  • Safely and efficiently operate the duct machine.
  • Roll the finished product to the bagger once complete.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and quick hand movements.
  • Ability to apply good judgment, a strong work ethic, and integrity on the job.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Located in a manufacturing environment with active forklift traffic.
  • Required PPE: Steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and gloves.
  • Physical Demands: Job requires standing (up to 90%), walking (up to 10%), routine stooping, bending, reaching, twisting, and turning.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 40 lbs.
  • Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination, handling tools/objects (holding, grasping), repetitive wrist motion (flexion/rotation), and repetitive foot movements (foot pedals).

Reporting Structure

Shift:

  • 1st shift - 5AM-1PM Monday- Friday.
  • 2nd shift - 1PM-9PM Monday-Friday.
  • 3rd shift - 9PM-5AM Monday-Friday.
  • Will work most weekends
