Job Title: VDC Technician (Virtual Design and Construction)
Location: Darien, IL area
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay range: 75- 120/k (based on experience)
Summary:
You'll collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and field teams to produce coordinated models, drawings, and digital project documentation, preparing permit and design documents, shop drawings, and as-built documents. The role includes visiting jobsites for coordination, attending project coordination meetings, and leading them as required by contract, working alongside the project management team and field staff to ensure project requirements are met with high-quality deliverables.
You'll support the design team through modeling and adherence to project standards, managing and distributing coordinated digital documents and linking BIM to the Construction Administration phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings, and schedules. The work also includes creating Revit assemblies in response to project needs and providing support for electronic file submissions. Responsibilities:
- Prepare permit, design, and as-built documents.
- Prepare shop drawings through careful project coordination.
- Visit jobsites for coordination and attend project coordination meetings.
- Collaborate with the project management team and field staff on project requirements and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Support the design team on project work through modeling and adherence to project standards.
- Lead project coordination meetings, as required by contract.
- Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team.
- Link BIM to the project Construction Administration phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings, and schedules.
- Create Revit assemblies in response to project needs and provide support for electronic file submissions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5 years of VDC experience.
- Proficiency in the Autodesk suite of construction platforms, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently, a self-starter who is both goal-oriented and customer-oriented.
Preferred
- College degree.
- Construction or trade experience.
- Experience in reality capture and point
