Position Overview

A Critical Access Hospital in New Ulm, MN is seeking a Locum Emergency Medicine Physician for ongoing coverage starting March 9 for MN-licensed physicians or April 13 for non-licensed candidates (credentialing required). This is a single-coverage Emergency Department with steady volume and strong specialty support.

Local candidates only flights are not covered at this time-but- I am willing to work out that detail.

Schedule & Shifts
  • Shift Length: 12-hour shifts only

    • Days: 7:00a 7:00p

    • Nights: 7:00p 7:00a

  • Schedule: 6 8 shifts per month (varies by month)

  • 24-hour shifts: Not available due to volume

Volume & Department Details
  • Annual ED Volume: 10,000 visits

  • Patients per Shift:

    • Typical: 15

    • Busy season: +, occasionally up to 25

  • Coverage Model: Single coverage ER

  • Hospital Size: 11 beds

  • Patient Population: All ages (neonates through geriatrics)

Support Services
  • Respiratory Therapy (RT)

  • Tele-Intensivist

  • Psychiatry

  • Orthopedics

  • General Surgery

  • OB/GYN

  • CRNA

  • Occasional mid-level support

Candidate Requirements
  • Board Certified (required)

  • Specialty:

    • Strong preference for Emergency Medicine

    • Will consider Family Medicine with solid ED experience

  • Experience: Community hospital ED experience required

  • Licensure: Active MN license required to start March 9

  • DEA: Required

  • Certifications: ACLS, PALS, ATLS or CALS

  • Strong preference for experience in MN or adjacent states
