Electrical Estimator
Mt. Airy, MD
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing commercial electrical contractor based in the Mt. Airy, MD area. This organization performs work throughout multiple states and has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality electrical projects across a variety of commercial and industrial markets.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys working on diverse projects, collaborating with operations teams, and helping drive company growth through accurate and competitive bids.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial electrical projects.
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and labor calculations.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Analyze project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and leadership throughout the bidding process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews as needed.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and bid documentation.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and construction practices.
- Experience estimating projects ranging from tenant improvements to large-scale commercial construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Stable work history and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Experience
- Commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, government, industrial, or mission-critical project experience.
- Experience bidding projects across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
