The Ground Transport Clinical Practice Medical Director is a physician who is responsible for leading the development of unified guidelines for ground scene response and interfacility transport.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the physician leader and chair of the Ground EMS Clinical Practice Committee, establishing clear purpose, scope, priorities, and cadence
  • Ensure committee work remains aligned with enterprise clinical strategy, air medical Joint Clinical Practice Committee, regulatory requirements in the states where services are provided, and patient safety priorities
  • Act as the clinical integrator across historically distinct EMS agencies, fostering trust, shared accountability, and professional respect
  • Provide clinical leadership input on operational logistics that impact patient care, by participation in selection of supplies and equipment that align with the standardized clinical guidelines
  • Coordinate with clinical training staff on the development of a curriculum to ensure frontline crew members can execute clinical guidelines with high reliability

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO with ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in a specialty relevant to ground medical transport
  • Active Medical Licensure
  • Current contract as a ground EMS medical director within Intermountain FAS
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience in relevant specialty and experience in leading successful quality improvement projects within the clinical setting.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
  • Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$58.62 - $90.48
