Surgical Breast Reconstruction APP (Nurse Practitioner) Needed in California Target Start Date: March 23, 2026 Contract Length: 26 week assignment (full time), potential ongoing need Schedule Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours only no call Shift Structure & Expectations: 4 10 schedule: Tuesday Friday Shift: 7:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Full time, weekly recurring schedule Day shift only EMR: Epic Practice Details Setting: Hospital based surgical oncology & outpatient reconstructive surgery High volume breast reconstruction service Patient Population: Primarily adults and geriatrics Occasional older adolescents Support Team: MAs, RNs, APPs, surgeons Patient Volumes: OR: Typically 2 4 surgical cases/day Inpatient service: 2 8 patients depending on census Department Summary: Predominantly breast reconstruction following mastectomy Includes tissue expansions, wound care, and management of reconstructive patients Small subset of non breast plastic cases (e.g., closures), but majority are reconstruction Workflow split: % OR first assist % inpatient floor management (med surg/tele) Clinical Responsibilities First assist in reconstructive breast surgery Post operative management Tissue expansion, wound management, and related oncology/plastic surgery tasks Suturing and core OR skills required Flexible movement between OR and inpatient unit based on daily needs No floor based procedures required beyond standard wound care Requirements Role: Physician Assistant Surgical Oncology / Plastic Surgery Education: Master s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (required) Experience: Strongly prefer surgical breast reconstruction experience Will consider other surgical oncology backgrounds Must have recent (1 5 years) relevant OR or outpatient surgical experience High volume oncology experience preferred License: Active California PA license required (not willing to license) Certifications: BLS (AHA) DEA California with Schedule II required Skills Required: Strong OR first assist competency Strong inpatient management skills Efficient in high volume surgical oncology practice Credentialing Timeframe: 60 days Location San Francisco, California Large academic hospital environment focused on surgical breast reconstruction and oncology care.
