This locum OB Hospitalist opportunity is seeking board-certified OB/GYN physicians to provide Labor & Delivery coverage at a high-acuity teaching hospital. The facility is currently down two full-time providers and anticipating an additional maternity leave, creating an urgent need for experienced laborists to support resident physicians, midwives, and inpatient OB services.

    • Hospital-based Labor & Delivery coverage

    • 10 L&D beds
    • Level I Trauma Center
    • Level IV Labor & Delivery unit
    • Level III nursery
Job Details / Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient OB Hospitalist/Laborist coverage
  • Work alongside:
    • OB residents
    • Nursing staff
    • Midwives requiring physician collaboration
  • Handle both low- and high-risk obstetric cases:
    • Approximately 20% low-risk pregnancies
    • Approximately 80% high-risk pregnancies
  • GYN cases comprise approximately 10% of practice
  • C-section rate approximately 25%
  • Required obstetrics responsibilities include:
    • Management of low- and high-risk pregnancies
    • Fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE)
    • OB ultrasound performance and interpretation
    • Level I and Level II OB ultrasounds
  • Labor & Delivery procedures include:
    • Routine vaginal deliveries
    • Forceps deliveries
    • C-sections
    • Breech and multiple births
    • VBACs
    • Management of abruptions
    • Repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations
  • Gynecology procedures include:
    • Ectopic pregnancy management
    • Ovary removal
    • Cystectomy
    • Extensive lysis of adhesions
    • Tubal ligation
    • Diagnostic laparoscopy
    • Open gynecologic surgery
    • Office gynecology procedures such as IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP
  • EMR system: EPIC

    • Lab

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Board Certified OB/GYN required
  • Active Ohio medical license required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation required
  • Must be comfortable managing high-risk obstetric patients and complex Labor & Delivery cases in a teaching hospital environment
