Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and experienced Personal Injury Trial Attorney to join our litigation team. The attorney will manage a caseload of complex personal injury matters from intake through jury verdict, focusing on achieving maximum recovery for injured clients. The ideal candidate excels in courtroom advocacy, client counseling, motion practice, and settlement negotiations across a range of matters including motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall, premises liability, product liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death claims.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse caseload of personal injury matters from intake through trial, including investigation, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Develop and execute case strategies to maximize client recovery, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and pre-trial briefs.
  • Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and jury trials; deliver persuasive oral arguments and examinations.
  • Conduct comprehensive factual and legal investigations; retain and coordinate experts, obtain medical records, and prepare demonstrative evidence.
  • Negotiate settlements with defense counsel and insurance companies while protecting client interests and advising on risk and value assessments.
  • Prepare and argue dispositive motions and evidentiary motions; respond to opposing motions and manage case deadlines.
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients regarding case status, strategy, and realistic outcomes; maintain detailed case files and billing records.
  • Collaborate with intake, paralegal, and support staff to ensure timely case progression and optimal client service.
  • Participate in business development and community outreach to generate referrals and grow the practice.
  • Stay current on changes in tort law, evidentiary rules, and procedural developments affecting personal injury litigation.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of civil litigation experience with a focus on personal injury; substantial trial experience required.
  • Proven track record handling cases involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall, premises liability, product liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.
  • Strong courtroom skills, including jury selection, direct and cross-examination, oral argument, and trial strategy.
  • Excellent written advocacy and legal drafting skills demonstrated by motions, briefs, and demand packages.
  • Experience working with medical records, reconstructive experts, vocational experts, and other litigation specialists.
  • Ability to evaluate damages, build settlement demand strategies, and negotiate effectively with insurance carriers.
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload with strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.
  • Client-focused approach with superior interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to explain complex legal matters in plain language.
  • Proficiency with case management and e-discovery tools, document management systems, and standard office software.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to courts, client meetings, depositions, and inspections as needed.
