Job Description

Summary & Objective The Contract Specialist works with current contract specialist to maintain all documents relative to contracted staff and insures ongoing compliance by proactively researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, trade specific publications, and legal codes. The specialist also maintains all contracts in a contract retention software. Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited university preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive knowledge and work history with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within standardized contracts.
  • Three years related experience as legal assistant is preferred.
  • Computer literacy required with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to various locations in service areas, as required by duties
Essential Functions
  • Interact with the public and other employees in a positive manner and promote a cooperative working environment.
  • Works with the Senior Director of Finance/Contract Specialist to manage all aspects of contract maintenance and contract administration for nursing homes, hospitals, physicians, providers and other vendors while ensuring all provider credentials are up to date in accordance to contract and by coordinating with Human Resources.
  • Prepares legal documents such as contracts, briefs or appeals for approval, and use by Senior Management or General Counsel.
  • Prepares affidavits of documents and maintains document file.
  • Investigates facts, laws and any other regulation impacting healthcare or Hospice to determine causes of action and/or indicated policy or practice revisions.
  • Primary point of contact for contracted staff.
  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data.
  • Prepare and process all documentation to credential providers with health care facilities.
  • Maintain all contracts in a company contract management software.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Takes initiative, work independently, multi task, and prioritize, with little or no supervision.
  • Adapt to change and new processes as necessary for continuous process improvement.
  • Work professionally with multiple levels of management and promote co-operation among departments, teams, and staff.
  • Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents. Must maintain very organized records or files.
  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Read and interpret policies and answer questions for internal and external customers.
  • Serve as a Back-up to Executive Assistant and/or Financial Analyst.
  • Completes projects on a timely basis and follows up on results as needed.
  • Proactively prepares reports by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Attends various meetings as requested.
  • Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates.
  • Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide other duties of healthcare team member.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.
