Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing) 3rd Shift - La Crosse, WI

ABR Employment Services has an opening with a client in La Crosse, WI for a 3rd shift Maintenance Technician. This position supports production uptime by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

Position details

  • Shift: 3rd shift
  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9:45pm-8:00am
  • Pay: $24-$30/hour (based on experience)

What you'll do

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and respond to alarms to minimize downtime
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and document work completed and parts used
  • Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical components, machinery, piping systems, and plumbing
  • Support forklift maintenance and general machine repair
  • Move, position, and install machinery/production equipment as needed
  • Perform welding and light fabrication for repairs/modifications
  • Assist with general building maintenance (carpentry, lighting, HVAC support, ventilation, plumbing, and grounds)
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, machine guarding, and Hazard Communication (SDS)
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

What we're looking for:
Required

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Welding/fabrication experience
  • PLC troubleshooting experience (a plus)
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance logging/documentation
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment

Work environment / physical requirements

  • PPE required (may include safety glasses, gloves, cut-resistant sleeves, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and respiratory protection)
  • Standing/walking on concrete for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts)
  • Frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs with assistance
  • Industrial setting with machinery, high noise levels, heat, dust/airborne fiberglass particles, and chemical odors/fumes typical of a fiberglass pultrusion manufacturing environment
