Job Title: Linguistic Specialist-Spanish

Location: Remote (California, Oregon & Washington-West Coast, USA)

Reports To: Director of Localization Program Management

Employment Type: Full-time

Goal of Position:

To provide high quality translation and localization of healthcare documentation by thoroughly translating and editing or post-editing machine-translated content.

Duties:

Become familiar with healthcare terminology relevant to the materials being localized and utilize CAT tools (like memoQ, etc.) whenever applicable to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the localization process.

Adhere to project specifications assigned by Project Management (PM) team, including using the project glossary and style guide specific to each job.

Maintain open lines of communication with the PM team and other relevant departments.

Keep a steady work pace that upholds high-quality standards while working collaboratively with team members and other departments. Effective teamwork is essential, especially for large or special projects.

Improve the quality of both human and machine translations, by concentrating on vocabulary, grammar, semantics, style, and punctuation. Offer comments and suggestions for terminology additions to the PM team if deemed necessary.

Emphasize cultural sensitivity in translations while ensuring the target text is accurate and reads smoothly. If uncertain, choose accuracy over style.

Ensure consistency in terminology and style throughout large projects split among multiple team members or external linguists.

Proofread content by revising the target text and referencing the source text as necessary.

Perform any tasks assigned by the PM team, including reviewing the format of the target file to ensure it matches the source and making changes in the TM at the segment or memory level as instructed.

Authority: Create or Edit translations to meet client requirements, with specific limits depending on the robustness of translation memory for accounts where stylistic changes are not expected.

Skills/Qualifications:

5-10 years' experience as a translator or other language related job.

Bachelor's Degree required.

Certificate or degree focus in Translations strongly preferred.

Native fluency in at least 1 language and strong command of at least 1 other language.

• Performance will be evaluated based on Quality, On-Time Delivery, and Productivity KPIs.

• Success in this role will also be assessed through periodic work reviews conducted by the Quality Assurance Department.
