Job Opening: Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
Join a leading cardiac surgery team in the heart of Colorado Springs, Colorado. This innovative, full-time, patient-centered multidisciplinary practice is dedicated to delivering world-class cardiothoracic care. We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to enhance our commitment to excellence in surgical and ICU patient management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced clinical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients prioritizing compassionate, patient-first care.
- Assist in cardiac surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting.
- Manage ICU and cardiovascular surgical patient care, including rounding and evaluations.
- Participate in 2 full-day clinics weekly and accommodate additional patients as needed.
- Rotate through operating room coverage from Monday to Friday.
- Collaborate closely with a team of surgeons, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement care plans based on patient outcomes.
- Order medications and write prescriptions in compliance with regulations.
- Perform bedside procedures as appropriate.
- Document all care delivered with high quality and timeliness.
- Exhibit expert clinical judgment while functioning independently under supervision.
- Maintain continuing medical education to meet state and national requirements.
- Thrive in a dynamic clinical setting and adapt to organizational changes.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master s degree in Nursing.
- Nurse Practitioner Certification by ANCC or AANPCB.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in cardiac or cardiovascular surgery with ICU management skills.
- Current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license to prescribe medications.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- No current or prior sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or the GSA List of Excluded Individuals and Entities.
License and Certification Requirements:
- Current COVID vaccination.
- Unrestricted medical staff membership with appropriate practice privileges.
- Full prescriptive authority in accordance with medical staff privileging.
