Full Time - 40 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver onboarding and competency programs using evidence-based practices.

  • Create orientation and ongoing education plans for licensed and unlicensed staff.

  • Foster a positive learning environment and utilize diverse teaching strategies (simulation, mock events, case scenarios).

  • Partner with leadership and academic institutions to support education initiatives.

  • Serve as mentor, resource, and role model promoting excellence and safety.

  • Maintain proficiency in unit-specific skills, EMR systems, and technology tools.

  • Ensure compliance with Mercy policies and assist with drills and education on knowledge gaps.

Education

  • If Bachelor's degree has been attained, 2 years' clinical experience is required. If Associate's degree is the highest level of degree attained, 10 years hospital nursing experience or 5 years' hospital nursing experience if active enrollment in a RN to BSN program.

  • Current appropriate state license if required in discipline.

  • AHA BLS provider.

Other Requirements

  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge related to evidence-based practice with the credibility to positively influence the delivery of patient care.
  • Proven ability to organize and multitask to meet project deadlines.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of equipment/technology used in delivery of patient care.

Preferred

  • Certified or progress toward certification in a specialty related to responsibilities (if available in discipline) preferred.
  • 2 years teaching experience.
  • Additional life support certifications as required by specialty (ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC and/or ENPC).
