OverviewWe are seeking a talented Locum Hematology & Oncology Physician to support the Bon Secours Cancer Institute at St. Mary s Hospital in Richmond, VA. This role is integral to maintaining seamless patient care while providing necessary coverage due to a recent staff transition. The successful candidate will oversee inpatient and outpatient oncology care, manage a team, and engage in research initiatives, all within a collaborative and patient-centric environment. Required Skills - Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Hematology and Oncology
- Valid medical licensure to practice in VA
- Proven experience in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings
- Strong leadership skills, capable of overseeing Nurse Practitioners and patient care coordination
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR system
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative care and research enrollment
- Ability to handle a patient caseload of approximately 12-15 patients daily in a hospital-based environment
Nice to Have Skills - Prior experience with clinical research and patient enrollment in studies
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient oncology workflows
- Prior experience in high-volume hospital settings
- Additional certifications in advanced oncology care or research
Preferred Education and Experience - Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of post-residency experience in Hematology and Oncology
- Prior experience working in hospital or academic settings is highly desirable
Other Requirements - Willingness to provide call coverage on a schedule suited to practice needs (specifically for April coverage, Monday through Friday)
- Enroll patients in research studies when appropriate
- Flexibility to work primarily inpatient with some outpatient duties for physician vacation coverage
- Must be fully licensed, certified, and compliant with all state, federal, and local laws regarding healthcare practice
- Ability to travel or commute to the hospital as needed; reimbursement for licensure, certification, and travel is provided
