Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist Austin, TX 1099 Independent Contractor Flexible Inpatient Role Adult/General Psychiatry

A well-established behavioral health program in the Austin, TX area is seeking an Adult/General Psychiatrist to join its inpatient clinical team as an independent contractor (1099). This is a great opportunity for a psychiatrist who enjoys a focused inpatient environment, predictable weekday hours, and the ability to structure earnings based on a fee-for-service model.

Position Overview

• Schedule: Monday Friday, daytime hours
• Setting: Adult inpatient unit
• Caseload: patients per day total
• Admissions: 3 5 per day
• Coverage: Weekend shifts optional; weekday evening call is phone-only and limited to your own patients
• Model: 1099 independent contractor, fee-for-service
• Duties Include:
Initial psychiatric evaluations
Follow-up visits
Discharges
Participation in treatment team planning
Collaboration with nursing, social work, and interdisciplinary staff
• Optional: Supervision of NPs available with additional stipend

Requirements
  • MD or DO with completed Psychiatry residency

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

  • Must already be opted into Medicare

  • Must be able to see Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and private insurance

  • Eligible for Texas medical license

  • No visa sponsorship (H1B/J1 not accepted)

  • Comfortable practicing in an inpatient behavioral health setting
