Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner looking for flexible, impactful work that directly supports our nation's veterans? We are seeking motivated Locum Nurse Practitioners to provide essential general medicine services through Veterans Evaluation Services (VES). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to veteran care on a PRN basis while enjoying competitive compensation and professional growth.

In this role, you will perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations, helping to ensure our veterans receive the benefits and assessments they deserve. Your expertise will support critical evaluations conducted primarily via interviews, with some physical assessments, in a fast-paced yet rewarding environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in independent settings, demonstrate excellent communication, and be committed to excellence in veteran care.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with authorization to practice in New Mexico
  • Experience in general medicine, internal medicine, or family medicine
  • Strong interview and physical assessment skills
  • Ability to work independently within designated offices within a 50-mile radius
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Capable of completing exams and documentation efficiently

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Background in orthopedic surgery or compensation and pension assessments
  • Experience with physical testing such as range of motion and muscle strength evaluations
  • Familiarity with veteran-specific assessments and protocols
  • Prior experience performing compensation and pension exams

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (e.g., MSN, DNP)
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Previous experience in veteran health assessments or related fields

Other Requirements:
  • Candidates must have their own clinical office space within the specified locations in NM (Silver City, Deming, Hobbs, Grants)
  • Local candidates preferred; travel will be included in pay rates
  • Willingness to work PRN, with flexible schedules of 4- or 8-hour shifts, primarily days
  • Availability to start on or before December 31, 2025
  • Certification in CPR and other relevant credentials
  • Ability to complete administrative follow-up work (addendums, reports) within the allotted rate structure
