Duties and Responsibilities • Analyze and design AC-DC and DC-DC power systems and power control • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologies • Design cable assemblies • Develop new electronics in the form of PCB designs and corresponding tests • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer • Generate design and interface documentation Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Experience with submarines/submersibles. • Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases • Experience with MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 design and qualification • Experience with design and debug of switch mode DC-DC converters including knowledge of control loop stability analysis • Experience with design and debug of 3-phase AC-DC conversion including transformer design • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS • Experience in analog and digital circuit design • Experience with lab equipment including signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes, power analyzers • Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc. • Strong documentation and communication skills • OrCAD Capture experience a plus • Experience with firmware or microcontrollers a plus • Experience with VHDL/Verilog a plus Education Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Clearance Requirements: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable with in a reasonable time from hire.
