Process Technician II - Complex (2 Shot / Bi Injection) 2nd Shift Location: Rochester Hills, MI (On-Site) About The Role Under the direction of the Process Engineer Team Leader, the Process Technician is responsible for setting up complex injection molding processes, including multi shot and bi injection molds. This role supports first time quality, reduces scrap and downtime, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. Process Technician II - Complex (2 Shot / Bi Injection) 2nd Shift Location: Rochester Hills, MI (On-Site) About The Role Under the direction of the Process Engineer Team Leader, the Process Technician is responsible for setting up complex injection molding processes, including multi shot and bi injection molds. This role supports first time quality, reduces scrap and downtime, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Comply with all internal safety procedures and OSHA regulations and participate in required safety training and support a safe work environment. Perform complete and accurate setups of multi-shot/multi-cavity molds, including loading approved process programs and ensuring proper hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and water connections per process book documentation. Manage shot size balance between materials, transfer timing between first and second shot, mold rotation, indexing, or transfer mechanisms. Troubleshoot common molding defects (short shots, flash, sinks, warp) and diagnose more advanced defects (delamination, poor adhesion, flow imbalance) by following systematic troubleshooting procedures including stopping the process when nonconforming material is detected. Install, configure, calibrate, and remove all robots and auxiliary equipment (thermolators, hot runner controllers, etc.). Perform dry ice blasting, mold cleaning, and apply appropriate mold release agents, and maintain organization of die-setting stations (supports SMED initiatives).
