ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion MultiPurpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Responsibilities Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Support Launch Vehicle Processing of the Artemis Launch Vehicles at Kennedy Space Center. This support includes flight hardware assembly operations, testing and validations of flight and ground systems.Working in a team environment, Technician will work to detailed instructions and schematics to perform work in all aspects of flight hardware.Technician will be participating in training requirements to obtain all necessary certifications to perform assembly work. Qualifications Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area of expertise and eight years of related experience including experience directing other technicians. Essential Functions: Must be able to work all shifts and a reasonable amount of overtime with limited prior notification. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be able to support all shifts, work at various facilities, and support multiple groups. Must demonstrate level of proficiency in mechanical or electrical technical operations. Experience with mechanical, electrical or high energy systems (Ex. High pressure pneumatics/hydraulics, cryogenics, hypergolic, etc) is desirable. Experience in Aerospace, and flight hardware Experience within Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred. Must pass all applicable physicals required for this position. Must be able to follow work instructions, interpret engineer drawings and follow stringent work area rules and safety protocols. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. Work will mainly performed in an inside environment, but fieldwork can be a combination of inside and outside depending on the project. Working at heights is required and in confined spaces may be required. Will work among equipment and stations in support of launches. If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required. Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions. Overview ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (WXRP IR/RF 8): Bowhead is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the Infrared Radio Frequency (IR/RF) Division at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana. The IR/RF Systems Technologies Division conducts research and development for pyrotechnic and countermeasure devices in support of the Navy, Air Force, Army and Joint Strike Fighter. The primary mission is to promote the self-protection of aircraft, vessels and vehicles and includes, but is not limited to, Infrared Technology, lasers and electronic warfare research and development.The Engineering Technician will be responsible for performing complex engineering assignments in a research and development environment. The Engineering Technician will utilize various production equipment including, but not limited to, injection mold machines, metal lathes and must be experienced with soldering and welding equipment. The Engineering Technician will provide mentoring and leadership to lower level Engineering Technicians in addition to duties outlined briefly below. Responsibilities Essential duties may include: Constructing components, subunits or models and adapting equipment to be used in support of the IR/RF division. Constructing and packaging devices according to specific layouts and diagrams provided. Conducting various tests on machines and parts as well as measuring, preparing, operating and recording test data. Assisting in design modification after failures and modifications are identified and addressed. Handling containerized ordnance and possible repacking of ordnance within those containers. Explosives handling support by transporting ordnance on station to production buildings, test ranges, and magazines.
