This position will cover existing operations and help with our expansion projects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consults with design engineers on features needed for new or existing installation. Prepares purchase requisitions or work orders to obtain needed tools or parts for the installation. Coordinates staff and assist in set-up die and equipment assembly and debugging for installations to ensure on-time completion. Investigates and resolves engineering related manufacturing problems. Compares dimensions of parts to blueprints, and resolve differences by revising or redesigning, utilizing 2D & 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD & SolidWorks) and Inventor Programs. Assists with satellite plant installations, as needed, including set-up, assembly, problem solving and follow-up to project completion. Analysis of data, evaluation of results and creation of technical reports, recommending further actions to be taken Working on cross disciplinary teams to solve manufacturing problems in the field Reporting project progress to Senior Management Working with Tool and Die shop to develop tooling packages for production equipment Other duties as assigned by management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar engineering area 3-5 years manufacturing engineering experience Experience with mechanical design, gear design, cam design, and/or food packaging machinery design Proficient with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor design software Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Background in Lean/6-Sigma preferred Prior leadership experience preferred Understanding of the use of statistics in manufacturing Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills required High level of independent thinking and resourcefulness to develop and propose solutions to problems Ability to interface with various levels of staff from peers to management, to production employees PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Summary Objective The Mechanical Field Service Lead serves as the senior field mechanic responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation, startup, and commissioning of Stellar Energy's Modular Central Utility Plants (MCUPs) at customer sites. This position helps direct and support a team of two Field Technicians and acts as the primary mechanical authority on-site, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations. The role requires hands-on mechanical expertise, leadership in field operations, and familiarity with digital instrumentation and smart mechanical systems. Essential Functions Lead the contractor in all mechanical installation activities at customer locations, serving as the senior site mechanic. Coordinate and supervise the work of two Field Technicians, ensuring mechanical installation and commissioning tasks are executed to a high standard. Interpret and execute mechanical and piping drawings, installation plans, and P&IDs provided by Engineering. Oversee the preparation and alignment of pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, piping systems, and associated equipment. Lead startup and commissioning procedures for mechanical systems, including hydrostatic testing, flushing, leak testing, and equipment verification. Interface with internal Engineering, Project Management, and Controls teams to resolve technical or equipment-related issues in the field. Perform functional tests and assist with integration of digital instrumentation, sensors, and mechanical control systems. Ensure compliance with all applicable mechanical codes, safety regulations, and Stellar Energy standards. Maintain detailed field documentation including redlines, daily work reports, punch lists, and commissioning logs. Mentor and train field technicians on mechanical best practices, safety procedures, and project expectations. Interface with internal Engineering, Project Management, and Controls teams to resolve technical issues in the field. Train and mentor field staff in proper electrical practices, safety protocols, and equipment-specific procedures. Competencies Expert knowledge of mechanical systems including chilled water, HVAC, piping, pumps, and valves. Hands-on experience with installation, alignment, and startup of industrial mechanical systems. Strong understanding of P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and installation standards. Leadership and team coordination skills, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Familiarity with digital instrumentation and mechanical sensors. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve field mechanical issues under pressure. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Digital fluency with field data collection tools, commissioning software, and mobile platforms. Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive job site. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct report supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This is a field assignment, work is onsite at assigned location. Fast paced, time sensitive, stressful, construction environment where there are no exceptions to the safety and quality requirements. Large amount of decision-making daily with accuracy margins associated. Exciting and ever-changing environment of Lean methodology employed daily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed inside and outside with uncontrolled weather conditions. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are dependent on site/project requirements. This position may require overtime and occasional weekend work. Travel The role is at the project site, 100% travel is required. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. 8+ years of experience in mechanical installation or field service in industrial or commercial environments. 3+ years in a supervisory or senior field mechanical role. Hands-on experience with mechanical system startup and commissioning. Knowledge of mechanical codes and safety standards (OSHA, ASME, ANSI, etc.). Knowledge of quality system, process control, and tool control, etc. Preferred Education and Experience Associate's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Technology, HVAC, or a related field. Experience with modular energy systems, packaged utility plants, or central utility systems. Certifications in rigging, equipment alignment, or mechanical commissioning. Familiarity with IIoT-enabled mechanical systems or smart mechanical infrastructure. OSHA 30 and first aid/CPR certifications. Work Authorization Must be qualified to work in the United States. Must hold a current US Passport or have ability to obtain.
