Position Summary Performs engineering work to ensure that gas system capacity and overall system operations meet the needs of PG&E's gas transmission system customers. Provides hydraulic analysis, operational support, and gas transmission system engineering for the company's backbone and transmission systems. Collaborates with gas operations departments and other lines of business (LOB) to ensure the design, construction, and operation of facilities meets operational requirements of the gas pipeline systems. Acts as a liaison with gas field operations personnel to assess and review the impacts of operations within the gas pipeline system. Contributes toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, reliability and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles. Position will require approximately 10% of travel time in work schedule. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Rocklin). PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. A reasonable salary range is: California Minimum:$116,000 California Maximum: $184,000 This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. Job Responsibilities • Provides hydraulic analysis and transmission system engineering expertise regarding PG&E's local gas transmission and/or backbone transmission systems. • Utilizes hydraulic simulation models to determine transmission system performance (pipelines, regulator stations, compressor stations, and storage fields), for problems of moderate scope or complexity. • Evaluates and determines cost efficient and effective facility enhancements and replacements to meet customer needs and operating requirements. • Assesses and reviews escalated impacts of operations within the gas pipeline system. • Calculates pipeline, station, and compressor unit capacities and provides technical design load curves and temperature forecasts and results. • Reviews customer gas usage, temperature factors, and load curves. • Analyzes winter pressure charts, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) information, and other system performance data. • Validates and contrasts models and scenarios compared to gas operations data and develops recommendations to resolve issues • Provides technical engineering expertise to assess and support gas planning tools and software. • Conducts analyses and contributes to the development of testimony for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies/commissions, e.g., California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission (FERC). Qualifications- Minimum: • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering or equivalent experience • Valid California driver's license • Three (3) years of relevant experience Desired: • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification • Professional Engineering (PE) license • Pipeline Simulation Engineering experience (Synergi or equivalent) • Knowledge and understanding of gas transmission, distribution, and system hydraulics • Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, codes, and regulations that govern gas engineering and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and properties of gas impacting various internal/external environments • Ability to simulate and model capacity scenarios • Ability to assess and provide recommendations and/or resolutions to projects and tasks • Ability to excel independently, build consensus, and cohesively collaborate within a team environment • Proficiency and skill with engineering information systems and applications • Expertise with Microsoft Excel/VBA tool development skills • Proficiency and skill with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) • Creativity and innovation skill

The Simulation Operations Specialist is a grant funded position and manages the equipment and devices in the simulation lab including software updates, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
