Provide clerical support including chart reviews, audits, phone answering, and pre-registration. Maintain a clean, stocked, and well-organized Emergency Department. Document ED Tech tasks and support staff with non-invasive procedures. Escort patients and ensure timely communication of patient care information. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. Current CNA certification and/or valid state EMT license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months). One to two years of healthcare, CNA or ED Tech experience preferred. Familiarity with basic medical terminology and strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage stressful emergency situations with professionalism. Proficient computer skills, including typing 30+ WPM and experience with Microsoft Word. Physical Requirement: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching. ENVIRONMENT: The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The Emergency Department is a 9-bed, round-the-clock unit equipped to handle trauma and critical care. The atmosphere is professional, well-maintained, and highly collaborative. Work may involve irregular shifts and long hours depending on emergency demand. Job hazards include exposure to biohazardous materials, infectious diseases, muscle strains, and potential falls, all of which require strict adherence to safety protocols. Overview: The Department of Psychiatry at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board eligible or board-certified psychiatrist to join its growing academic department as the Director of Emergency Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Department: The Department of Psychiatry, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board eligible or board-certified psychiatrist to join its growing academic department, which employs 18 full time faculty members. The psychiatry residency program is a fully accredited program, currently with 24 residents (6 per year with accreditation up to 8 per year). WMed is looking to expand and enhance psychiatric clinical services, research, and both resident and medical student training. There are significant clinical and research collaborations with Integrated Services of Kalamazoo (ISK), Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health (SWMBH), Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VA), Kalamazoo State Psychiatric Hospital, Community Healing Centers of Kalamazoo, and the Great Lakes Center for Autism as well as other community organizations/agencies. WMed Psychiatry is practicing the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) with Bronson Healthcare and anticipating continued growth in the primary care practices of Family Medicine, Pediatrics as well as OB/GYN. The Department of Psychiatry is experiencing tremendous growth within our clinical footprint and community collaborations, our scholarly work and research output, as well as our expanding education programs. Position: The department provides consultation liaison services at the 435-bed at Bronson Methodist Hospital, in Kalamazoo. Services are provided by 2 faculty psychiatrists and 2 psychiatry residents along with a nurse practitioner. Resident rotations in emergency psychiatry have been streamlined. The Emergency Psychiatry/CL Director, in collaboration with the WMed Department Chair, will be charged with identifying areas of improvement and implementing initiatives to continue our strategic growth in order to ensure an outstanding academic emergency psychiatry/CL program which sets the standard for patient care in the region. Responsibilities: We are seeking board certified or eligible psychiatrists who are interested and passionate about teaching and Emergency Psychiatry and Consult Liaison. Faculty rank (Assistant/Associate/full Professor) will depend on experience and qualifications of the candidate.
