Location: 214 Allen Street, USA, Clinton, WI, 53525 Employee Type: Full Time - Non-Exempt Description Position Title: Grain Accountant Benefits: The DeLong Co., Inc. offers affordable Medical, Dental, Vision, Rx and Life insurance coverage. 401k with matching, FSA and Dependent Care Accounts Short Term Disability, Voluntary Life and Voluntary Long-Term Disability Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time hourly position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the peak work hours. Pay Range: $21-$24/hour Position Summary: The Grain Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all grain transactions - including scale ticket processing, contract accounting, inventory position tracking and settlements This role serves as the financial backbone of grain elevator or cooperative operations, ensuring producers are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with regulatory and audit requirements Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Apply scale tickets to the correct purchase contract or spot purchase. Enter all new grain contracts into the accounting system accurately, including contract type (forward, basis, HTA, deferred payment, open storage), commodity, bushel quantity, delivery period, price terms, and producer information. Record authorized changes to contract terms including price re-sets, bushel adjustments, delivery period extensions, and cancellations. Ensure all amendments are properly documented and approved before posting. Calculate final settlement amounts for all priced grain, applying net bushels, contract price, storage charges, drying charges, handling fees, and any advances previously paid. Issue settlement documents to producers accurately and on time. Generate payment files for ACH/EFT disbursements or print and mail settlement checks. Record advances issued to producers against future grain deliveries. Track outstanding advance balances and apply them automatically at settlement time to ensure accurate net payment calculations. Respond to producer questions regarding settlement calculations, pricing, deductions, and payment timing. Research discrepancies and issue corrected settlements or adjustments as authorized. Completing Month End reports. Maintain detailed and organized records of all transactions and generate regular reports. Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and quality control teams to ensure seamless information flow and communicate with suppliers regarding payment status and resolve any payment-related queries. Identify opportunities for process improvement in workflows, and work with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance efficiency and accuracy. All other duties assigned by management. High level work ethic, punctuality and self-motivation.
