About the role We are looking for an employee who is self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced environment. You are responsible for measuring patients' bone mass to determine bone health, especially for the purpose of diagnosing osteoporosis and other bone diseases. Must be able to work with adult and geriatric patients of varying mobility. Also must be able to work in diagnostic radiology when needed. Supervision Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics. Performs routine administrative duties including, documenting the numeric results in the patients' chart in the bone density template and ensuring that the results are read and sent to the ordering provider. Preparation for next day appointments Works in diagnostic radiology when there is down time and radiology is short-staffed. Recognizes changes in patient status and appropriately communicates to nurse and/or doctor. Exhibits a working knowledge of principles, practice and procedures involved in the operation of radiographic equipment. Anticipates and recognizes safety hazards, legal liabilities and intervenes through appropriate channels. Provides and promotes quality care in accordance with office policies and procedures Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with co-workers, patients and other employees of the department and office. Recognizes individual accountability for and participates in cost containment goals of the department and office. Demonstrates continuous self-improvement through utilization of knowledge gained in clinical experience in X-ray. Participates in in-service education, staff meetings and other continuing education programs to maintain optimal technical knowledge. Participates in continuing education and in-services outside Physicians East, P.A. office for 24 hours of continuing education every two years. Our OR West has 12 Operating Rooms, OR East has 11 Operating Rooms and 2 Procedure Rooms, Holly Springs has 3 Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room. The Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide intraoperative care for a variety of service lines including Plastics, GYN, GU, General, Bariatrics, Colorectal, Orthopedics, Neuro, Urology, Pulmonology, Robotics, and ENT. This Nurse Educator position will support the OR departments at both UNC Rex in Raleigh and UNC Rex in Holly Springs. Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is preferred. Summary: Coordinates staff development and educational needs of patient care nursing staff, patients, and families. This is an advanced level position in education, which is performed under minimal supervision. Assignments may be characterized as those requiring collaboration to address staff educational needs within a specialty practice area and/or service. Serves in a lead capacity over others as it relates to special projects or subject matter expertise. Work maybe performed collaboratively for multiple disciplines across the continuum of care or for a specific patient population or service area. Responsibilities: 1. Acts as resource and role model in use of evidence based practice. Leads unit/service based clinical practice groups 2. Assists in orientation and placement of nursing students in clinical units. Serves as resource to faculty. Mentors graduate students 3. Assists nursing staff in design and implementation of clinical nursing research/performance improvement projects. 4. Assists nursing units with preceptor responsibilities to ensure that all new staff are oriented and meeting competency expectations 5.
