**Description:**
Lab Technician
This position is responsible for performing analysis on Tungsten and Tungsten Carbide products using a variety of test equipment and instrumentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Utilize test equipment and instrumentation to perform various tests and qualifications of various products to ensure that specifications are met
• Perform quality control testing
• Utilize test equipment and instrumentation to qualify raw material, in-process material, and finished powder for use in production
• Complete testing on R & D materials and projects
• Perform tests under strict procedure and guidelines and maintains test data
• Perform other reasonable and related duties as assigned
• Completes all testing in the required time in a testing area.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Performs all tasks in a safe manner
• Maintains a clean and organized workspace
Testing Areas: Perform testing in a wide variety of areas using different skill sets including:
• Wet Chemistry
• Dry Chemistry
• Physical Testing
• Metallography
• Metallurgical Testing
Equipment Used: A wide variety of testing equipment and instrumentation including:
• Analytical balances
• Microscope imaging systems,
• AA, XRF, DCP, and ICP spectrometers
• Fisher and Malvern Particle distribution analyzers
• Physical testing apparatus
• Carbon, Sulfur, Oxygen and Nitrogen analysis instrumentation.
• Microwave Digestion system
• Computer to include network and instrumentation software systems.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
• Knowledge of measuring and testing techniques
• Demonstrated advanced mathematical skills
• Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be able to read at a technical level and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Adequate computer skills/ able to learn enterprise application software
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure in a demanding fast paced environment
• Investigate atypical results and determine the root cause
• Is trained and performs testing independently in two to three to testing areas.
Experience Guidelines:
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in an industrial lab environment strongly preferred. Metallurgical background a plus
Education Guidelines:
• High School diploma or GED with high school chemistry and algebra; college chemistry or physical science and algebra preferred
