Heavy Equipment Operator
Universal Environmental Solutions is currently hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator with recent and relevant civil construction experience to join our Tampa Bay team. Wages start at $20/hour - depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
As our heavy equipment operator, we rely on you to perform duties related to operating heavy equipment - including Backhoe, Loader, Dozer, Skid Steers, and Mini Excavators. Heavy equipment will vary by assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to backhoes, material handlers, excavators, skid steers, dozers, and loaders for use in foundation, site grading, material placement, and pipe laying for drainage maintenance work
* Operate scrapers and graders to cut and set grades, spread, and level dirt, and gravel to specifications when needed
* Experience using transit, pipe lasers, and other types of measuring devices
* Drainage/road/city project experience a plus
* Perform pre/post inspections and perform minor maintenance of the equipment
* Willingness to assist in a variety of roles on the site
* Perform general labor duties when necessary
* Able to perform strenuous work in all types of weather conditions
* Able to follow verbal and written instructions
* Able to work weekends and overtime if needed
Finally, you are diligent to keep yourself and others safe by appropriately using PPE such as a hard hat, safety glasses, harnesses, gloves, etc. as you complete a variety of routine tasks each day. At the end of the day, we truly rely on you to assist in the overall success of our company!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CLASS B CDL DRIVER
* Valid Florida driver's license
* Three (3) years of experience operating excavators
* Must be able to obtain or have TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card)
* Reliable transportation
* Successfully pass pre-employment testing and a criminal background check
* Must have pipe laying and underground utilities experience
* Must have experience forming, pouring, and finishing concrete pads
* Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
* Ability to pass a drug test
Weekend work and overtime will be available and expected.
