The Production Engineer directs the manufacture of a wide variety of specialty chemicals and/or intermediate products in a production plant covered by OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation. Ensures optimum production levels of quality product as required by the customer in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Position requires effective communication and coordination with EH&S, Quality Control, Purchasing, Engineering & Maintenance, Production Planning, Logistics, Sales & Marketing and Controlling Departments. Manages Stable Operations program and Reactor Accountability Database (RAD). Identifies and executes improvement projects in the Reserve plant to promote cost savings and increase capacity. Assists in the transfer of new production technology and products from R&D and the Business Line Departments to the Reserve Plant. Develops new work instructions when implementing new processes and initiates modifications to existing work instructions when needed. Participates in the MOC process for the plant and updates technical drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides daily technical support for the plant by troubleshooting production issues, equipment, identifying and executing process control system improvements, and by using the MOC system to manage changes. Serves as the single point of contact for DCS support.
Ensures SAP data accuracy for all recipes and BOMs, and makes changes as needed. Verifies appropriate production capacity is available and communicates concerns/constraints appropriately. Develops strategies for capacity improvements if needed. Manages the Reactor Accountability Database (RAD) to ensure data integrity and accuracy; identifies trends to promote continuous improvement. Leads site Stable Operations program.
Ensures manufacturing process optimization by enforcing existing production protocols and, where appropriate, make revisions. Investigates production related customer complaints and nonconforming incidents. Leads root cause analyses and develops corrective action for product quality defects.
Provides solutions for operational constraints and concerns. Coordinate with a multifaceted group to ensure optimal safety and efficiency for all production. Fosters a positive work environment characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, accountability, and open communication.
Heavily supports new product introductions as a key plant technical contact; ensures plant preparation, develop/review of relevant documentation, scheduling of adequate operating staff and provide daily status reports.

REQUIREMENTS

BS Degree Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
2 - 5 years of experience as a Production Engineer responsible for manufacturing products in a complex chemical processing environment or equivalent.
Must possess effective communication skills enabling effective leadership of a diverse workforce.
Proficient in Aspen Manufacturing Suite (IP.21), MiniTab, Microsoft Office, Honeywell TDC is preferred
