A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

Work closely with the Manager of T&D Demonstrations.
Stay informed about new and relevant technologies to support the needs of SCE's roadmaps and initiatives, including Wildfire Mitigation and Reimaging the Grid, which is an initiative responding to Pathway 2045.
Maintain and communicate awareness of industry leading methodologies for leading projects to develop new SCE standards (design, construction, O&M, training documentation, tools, etc.).
Engage with key decision makers and influencers, field personnel, and vendors, with the goal of building lasting mutually beneficial relationships.
Provide domain expertise, guidance, and training to the T&D Demos team.
Recommend new and alternative technologies, systems, and equipment to address issues facing SCE.
Lead and manage a range of development and small-scale implementations for T&D equipment, protection & automation systems, control systems, and communications technologies.
Identify and resolve issues related to a projects' development and implementation success.
Act on SCE's behalf to ensure that new product(s) meet SCE specifications and testing requirements.
Partner with internal and external organizations such as IT, Cybersecurity, technical field specialists, Engineering, and vendors to specify, evaluate, test, and deploy T&D technology demonstrations.
Build consensus among key stakeholders through regular interactions with other middle managers and engineering staff.
Ensure effective knowledge transfer / lessons learned from demonstration projects into production systems.
Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders on viability of technologies and their impacts on SCE systems.
Actively participate and provide subject matter expertise to external groups and entities such as IEEE, IEC, and other efforts where SCE's presence is required to drive new technologies and processes

Qualifications

The essentials

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Five years of software engineering experience with emphasis on Machine Learning
Seven years of overall engineering experience

The preferred

Master's degree in related technical field
Ten years of overall engineering experience
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
Familiarity with SCE system protection practices, philosophies, and standards
Familiarity with SCE distribution design standards
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles
Familiarity with Hardware in the Loop testing and modeling
Hands-on experience with T&D related system and device testing
