Job Description

Faurecia Emissions Control Systems NA, LLC, Tier-1 supplier of exhaust systems & components, seeks Senior Quality Engineer in Franklin, OH. Position has authority to interrupt manufacturing or delivery of products when quality is not assured. National & international travel 40 %.

Duties: Monitor Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Performance activities; approve and implement internal production line work instructions for inspection, total quality wall, and safe launch; lead gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) analysis, coordinate line trial data collection, and record statistical process control data; monitor compliance with control plan to meet quality targets (first part OK, parts performance and conformity, GD&T, GR&R, scrap); evaluate new and existing manufacturing tools, fixtures, layouts, and equipment to identify potential quality and cost improvements; conduct PFMEA to ensure compliance with customer requirements for all initial product part submissions; develop and implement quality specifications, testing procedures and standards for raw materials, and processed and finished goods; develop recommendations for sample inspection techniques and quality control plans; develop process control procedures to ensure manufacturing of finished products meets quality specifications and standards; apply APQP and PPAP procedures to identify testing, sampling and gauging techniques needed for the manufacture of new products; lead shop-floor investigations to determine causes of defects and recommend corrective actions; provide feedback on returned goods and internal non-conformance to manufacturing and quality engineering personnel; implement process control programs to ensure that manufacture of finished goods meets customer requirements; monitor supplier quality performance and assist in the implementation of supplier corrective actions; define continuous improvement activities and develop Quality Systems Efficiency (QSE) plans based on defined priorities, targets and priorities; lead workshops on QSE tools (Kaizen, 8 Basics, final inspection, poka yoke, plan-do-check-act, QRCI, stop at defect, convergence plan, variability reduction); ensure compliance with IATF 16949 quality standards and with internal quality management system; use OEM quality monitoring systems (GM Supply Power/GZTS, Ford Covisint) to interface with customers; train plant personnel on quality audit techniques. Minimum education required: Master degree in industrial and systems engineering, mechatronics engineering or mechanical engineering, or foreign equivalent degree. Minimum experience required: 2 years' experience in a quality engineering position with a Tier 1 automotive supplier. Required skills: Must have 2 years' of work experience in each of the following: applying IATF 16949 quality standards; using Minitab to identify data and process variations; liaising with OEM customers on launch and production issues; conducting IATF quality audits; working with cross-functional team on PFMEA; using Kaizen and poka yoke to develop continuous improvement initiatives. Experience may be acquired concurrently.
