Under direct supervision, reviews applications and associated paperwork for good order, conducts suitability review to mitigate risk for new business, reinstatements, and policy changes, within established approval limits that involve minimal complexity, risk, and financial impact.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Under direct supervision, analyzes data related to suitability for all simplified issue life insurance applications, in order to determine what benefits, if any, can be offered, and in order to mitigate financial risk to the company.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy and completeness of applications to include premium handling. Is thorough when performing reviews, accurately documents and maintains underwriting files, and ensures the effective use of procedures in accordance with business practices and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Communicates effectively with brokers, agencies, and/or other sources concerning outstanding requirements, underwriting decisions, and pre-screen reviews of potential applicants.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external customers; verbal and written communication is clear, concise and professional; uses appropriate grammar and spelling in written correspondence.
- Develops and maintains a strong, positive working relationship and rapport with the field force. Delivers an exceptional customer service experience by providing appropriate product/process education and demonstrating a high level of responsiveness and follow-up on commitments.
- Handles and prioritizes multiple concurrent tasks. Takes ownership of the case handling and facilitates the work flow in a way that is seamless to the customer.
- Meets or exceeds time service, quality and customer service expectations as defined by management; ensures timely responses to internal and external customers submitted via phone, email, and workflow system.
- Proactively recognizes problems and works collaboratively to recommend process improvements to enhance customer service, increase efficiency or reduce unnecessary steps/hand-offs.
- This position requires extensive or prolonged typing/keyboarding.
- This position is in a fast-paced, high volume environment with set production goals.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in the insurance or financial industry.
- Underwriting experience is highly desired.
