Job Description

Under general supervision, follows standard procedures in laboratory testing, in evaluating various routine assays and in performing tasks related to collection and histological analysis of tissue including tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy. Requires knowledge of the processes involved in documenting experiments. Maintains laboratory notebook and electronic testing records according to established laboratory procedures.

This position will support a Primary Investigator (PI) in the Department of Microbiology.

This position is 100% grant funded

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm; depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in related field of Science required;
2-4 years research lab experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment;

Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;

Detail oriented;

Analytical skills;

Strong work ethic;

Strong communication skills (verbal and written);

Ability to work independently and self-initiate;

Ability to work on a team;

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
